Taught in English
To be mindful means to be alert, to honestly pay attention to what you are doing as you are doing it. In our day-to-day life, we might think we always know what we are doing but in fact much of what we fill our lives with is habitual – unquestioned and unexamined. It is like we are half asleep. Based on Buddhist thought, the practice of mindfulness is not some exotic spiritual activity but is accessable, sensible and intimately connected with our lives. Rinpoche will introduce a training in mindfulness based on loving kindness. This practice will be of benefit to anyone who wants to develop a good heart, warm feelings and kindness.

“Let me not pray to be sheltered from dangers,
but to be fearless in facing them.
Let me not beg for the stilling of my pain,
but for the heart to conquer it.
Let me not crave in anxious fear to be saved,
but hope for the patience to win my freedom.”
